SHAME on us - Teachers

Once a teacher gets 10 years of experience, the differences in salaries appear more drastic between provinces. In Alberta, teachers make $99,300 on average and B.C. teachers make about $81,500 after a decade of experience, which translates to a 60 per cent increase in salary in 10 years. Sep 1, 2014

In Toronto, elementary teachers currently begin their careers earning $42,283 to $55,404, up to a maximum of $94,707 (all figures Canadian) — or roughly $71,000 U.S. — after 10 years.

The BLS reports the median annual salary for high school teachers was $58,030 in 2016. The best-paid 10 percent in the field made approximately $92,920, while the bottom 10 percent made $38,180. Compensation is typically based on your years of experience and educational level.
